Web3 Agent Kit vs solana-agent-kit vs Coinbase AgentKit¶
Disclaimer: This is an honest comparison, not self-promotion. Each project has different design goals.
At a glance¶
| Aspect | Web3 Agent Kit | solana-agent-kit | Coinbase AgentKit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Language | Python | TypeScript | TypeScript |
| Chains | 8 (EVM + Solana) | 1 (Solana) | 2 (Base + ETH) |
| AI Agent framework | ✅ Built-in (LLM reasoning) | ✅ Built-in | ✅ Built-in |
| Safety governor | ✅ Spend limits + confirm | ❌ Not built-in | ❌ Not built-in |
| Open source license | MIT | MIT | MIT |
| Primary audience | Python devs, solo builders | Solana TS devs | Coinbase ecosystem |
Key differences¶
1. Multi-chain vs single-chain¶
Web3 Agent Kit supports Ethereum, Base, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, BSC, Avalanche, and Solana from a single Python codebase. solana-agent-kit is Solana-only. Coinbase AgentKit focuses on Base and Ethereum.
Winner: Web3 Agent Kit for multi-chain needs; solana-agent-kit for deep Solana integration.
2. Safety architecture¶
Web3 Agent Kit has a SpendGovernor with per-transaction, daily, and session caps, a kill switch, and an operator confirmation gate. Neither solana-agent-kit nor Coinbase AgentKit have equivalent built-in protections.
This matters because autonomous agents can make mistakes — a safety net is essential for production use.
Winner: Web3 Agent Kit (the only one with a safety model).
3. Token security¶
Web3 Agent Kit includes honeypot detection, rug pull assessment, and contract audit via the TokenAnalyzer module. This is built into the framework, not an external tool.
Winner: Web3 Agent Kit (batteries-included security analysis).
4. Maturity & ecosystem¶
Coinbase AgentKit has the largest team and corporate backing. solana-agent-kit has strong Solana-native integrations. Web3 Agent Kit is the newest but covers the widest chain surface.
| Metric | Web3 Agent Kit | solana-agent-kit | Coinbase AgentKit |
|---|---|---|---|
| GitHub stars | Growing | Established | Established |
| Release version | v1.15.0 | v1.x | v1.x |
| Test coverage | 62% | Unknown | Unknown |
| CI | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
| Documentation | GitHub Pages | Vite docs | Vite docs |
When to use which¶
- Use Web3 Agent Kit if: You're a Python developer building multi-chain agents and value safety guards.
- Use solana-agent-kit if: You're building TypeScript agents exclusively on Solana.
- Use Coinbase AgentKit if: You're deeply integrated into the Coinbase/Base ecosystem and want first-party support.
Summary¶
Web3 Agent Kit differentiates through Python-first design, multi-chain coverage, and built-in safety (SpendGovernor + security analysis). The other kits are mature in their respective niches but lack these safety and multi-chain features out of the box.
